President, Regis College at the University of Toronto
Regis College, Canada’s Jesuit theological school and a founding member of the Toronto School of Theology (TST), seeks qualified applicants for the position of President. Affiliated with the University of Toronto, one of the world’s foremost postsecondary institutions of teaching and research, Regis was established in 1930 to form lay and ordained leaders for ministry in the Church. The College is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) in the United States and Canada and recognized by the Holy See as an Ecclesiastical Faculty for theological degrees.
The President will be required to exercise leadership in representing Regis in the Regis-University of St. Michael’s College federation and to think strategically in the implementation of their memorandum of agreement. Inspired by Jesuit values and rooted in the Ignatian charism, the successful candidate will provide transformational vision and operational skills as a community builder to help the Regis community navigate the complexity of this new joint entity.
As the chief ambassador for the College, the President is an academic leader who is committed to a collaborative working style both within Regis and with the other schools of the TST. He will guide the College as it cultivates relationships with the local, national and global Church and will work within Catholic, Jesuit, ecumenical and interfaith networks. Given the College’s location near academic, governmental, health, business and cultural organizations, the President will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with a diverse array of stakeholders in a pluralist and cosmopolitan setting.
The successful candidate is expected to begin the position on July 1, 2022, pending approval of the Governing Council and the relevant ecclesial authorities. The successful candidate must be member of the Society of Jesus (Jesuit) who has solid academic and administrative experience, demonstrated skills in fundraising and at least a passive knowledge of French.
