14 Jan Announcement on the Appointment of Director of the Lonergan Research Institute

Professor John Dadosky with his new book, The Wisdom of Order
The Board of Directors of the Lonergan Research Institute (LRI) is very pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. John D. Dadosky, PhD as the new Executive Director of the LRI, effective 1 September 2025.
Prof. Dadosky is an internationally recognized scholar in Lonergan studies, ecclesiology, as well as comparative and interreligious theology. His most recent monograph, The Wisdom of Order: An Exploration of Lonergan’s Method in Theology (University of Toronto Press, 2024), exemplifies his depth of scholarship. He also serves as the General Editor of the Lonergan Series at the University of Toronto Press.
Since joining the faculty of Regis College in 2001 — now collaborating with the University of St. Michael’s College to operate the Regis-St. Michael’s Faculty of Theology — Prof. Dadosky has made significant contributions as a professor and administrator. From 2019 to 2024, he served as Director of the Fraser Center. In addition to these roles, he has held leadership positions such as Treasurer of the Catholic Theological Society of America and the American Theological Society.
The Board of Directors was particularly impressed by Dr. Dadosky’s commitment to the goals of the LRI, his innovative scholarship, and his proven record of administrative and financial oversight. The Board is confident he is the right person to lead the LRI toward a sustainable and flourishing future.
Prof. Dadosky shared, “I am looking forward to collaborating to preserve, promote, and advance the thought of Bernard Lonergan at Regis College, part of the Toronto School of Theology at the University of Toronto, where the Canadian thinker wrote his two most famous works, Insight and Method in Theology.” In addition to his leadership responsibilities, Prof. Dadosky will continue to teach and supervise students.
The Board of Directors recognizes President Gordon Rixon SJ and Regis College for their ongoing collaboration with the LRI. Additional gratitude is extended to the Very Rev. Jeffrey Burwell SJ and the Jesuits of Canada for their vital support of this important work in the intellectual mission of the Society of Jesus.
We thank our colleagues, friends, and benefactors for the continued support of the LRI and wish everyone the best for 2025.
Sincerely,
Darren Dias, OP, PhD
Chair, Board of Directors
