Announcement – Dean Susan Wood, SCL honoured

Dean Susan Wood, SCL honoured by largest Catholic theological society

Sr. Susan K. Wood, SCL, Academic Dean at Regis College, received the John Courtney Murray Award of the Catholic Theological Society of America (CTSA) at the Society’s annual meeting on June 12, 2021. The Award is the Society’s highest honour and celebrates a life of service, achievement, and scholarship in the Society and the academy. The ceremony was held virtually, adhering to local COVID-19 guidelines. Professor John D. Dadosky, outgoing Treasurer on the CTSA Board, presented Dr. Wood with the Award on behalf of the CTSA President, Maria Pilar Aquino. “The Society member we honor today,” the citation reads, “has made extensive contributions to various fields of theological inquiry, including ecclesiology, sacraments, liturgical theology, ecclesial ministry, ecumenism, and the theology of priesthood.”

The CTSA consists of about 1200 members and is the largest theological society of its kind. Dr. Wood is the third member of the Regis College faculty to receive the John Courtney Murray Award, following Frederick E. Crowe, SJ (1977) and Bernard Lonergan, SJ (1973).
