Olivia Chow (pre-recorded) \nThe former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada\, Irwin Cotler is the Internation Chair of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights. \nII. Participants: \ni. Marsha Lederman is an award-winning journalist and author. Now a columnist for The Globe and Mail\, she was previously the Globe’s Western Arts Correspondent. Marsha is a child of Holocaust survivors and has published two books: the 2022 memoir Kiss the Red Stairs: The Holocaust\, Once Removed and October 7th: Searching for the Humanitarian Middle\, a collection of Globe writing. Born in Toronto\, she has lived in Vancouver since 2007. \nii. Jeanette Goldman\, a child holocaust survivor was born in Krakow Poland\, and raised in Sydney\, Australia where she and the only survivors of her family\, found refuge after the war. Since immigrating to Canada in 1962\, she has become a federal and provincial tribunal judge\, a member of the immigration and refugee board\, workplace safety and insurance tribunal\, and the Israeli delegation to the United Nations. She lives in Toronto. \niii. Respondent: Mary Jo Leddy Ph.D. \nMary Jo Leddy is recognized for her work with refugees at Romero House\, Toronto. John Mary Fraser Centre for Practical Theology will be having its sixth annual Scarboro Missions Lecture on Thursday February 15\, 2024\, at 7 pm\, in St. Joseph’s Chapel at Regis College (100 Wellesley Street West). This year’s presenter is Professor Christian Krokus\, and his lecture is titled\, “One God\, Two Religions: Ressourcement in Catholic-Muslim Dialogue.” \n  \nProf. Krokus is a professor of theology/religious studies at the University of Scranton\, the Jesuit university in Northeast Pennsylvania. His teaching and research focuses on Catholic encounter with Muslims and Islam. DESCRIPTION:The Dominican Institute of Toronto\, in collaboration with the Toronto School of Theology\, the University of St. Michael’s College\, Regis College\, and Regis St. Michael’s Faculty of Theology\, will be having its Aquinas Lecture on Monday January 29\, 2024 at 4-6pm\, in Saint Joseph’s Chapel at Regis College (100 Wellesley Street West). This year’s presenter is Prof. Gilles Routhier\, and his lecture is titled “Theology in Universities is Changing: What is Coming Next?” \n  \nProf. Gilles Routhier is internationally recognized for his scholarship on Vatican II. He is the author of numerous monographs\, book chapters\, and articles. For over 30 years he has taught ecclesiology\, missiology\, and practical theology at Laval University\, Quebec City\, where he served two successful terms as Dean. A member of the Royal Society of Canada\, Prof. Routhier currently serves as the Superior General of the Seminary of Quebec. In 2023 he was appointed by Pope Francis a theological expert to the Synod on Synodality. Prof. Routhier has served as the Roman Catholic delegate to national and international ecumenical dialogues and is a member of the Peter and Paul Seminar. \n  \nThis lecture is offered in person only\, with a light reception (wine and cheese) to follow.
